I’m aware that in the hustle and bustle of modern life, a large number of people interested in being portrayed on Canvas are not able to sit and pose over prolonged periods.  Besides painting direct from the Sitter, I am in the habit of utilising a high spec camera and portable lighting  system, and am prepared to travel to the sitter’s house. Once there, up to 100 photographs will be taken in formal or casual poses, and from these images the finished Artwork evolves back in my studio at Bath.
Conversely, the subject of the painting is invited to come to my home town, the beautiful Georgian City of Bath.

One of the most important things about portraiture is that the Sitter should feel at ease in the presence of the Artist or Artist’s camera.

‘The majority of the most favourable images of any Sitter come about after he/she has relaxed sufficiently to enable the Artist to capture the very core of that person’s being. Nothing can compare to the moment when the sitter becomes totally relaxed in the painter’s presence. It is only then that the Artist can reach through a briefly opened window of that person’s life, and portray that particular moment for posterity’.

I also love to paint ‘Action’ Paintings, capturing such images as the hurly burly scenes of Horse Racing; and love to produce Art studies of both Equine and Human musculature.

One of the things I specialise in is the action and beauty of ‘Dance’.

The Royal School of Ballet has been quoted as saying that my paintings of Ballet Dancers are quite unique in the field of the Art World in that I portray not only the grace of the dancer, but the power which is behind the grace.

This ‘Power’ is not always acknowledged in the world of Art, but it is the mainstay of the top levels of all Athletes.

‘It is the Power of the living body which creates the most sublime images.  Humanity should have the opportunities to see, and marvel at these images’.

I am currently working on a series of paintings which, I hope, will convey this ‘Power’ to the observer’s eye.
I am prepared to take Photographs sent by clients and transfer them to canvas in the form of a finished Painting or Drawing.
It’s been known for a passport sized photograph to be interpreted into a life size final image. This requires hours of work but clients in the past have been extremely pleased with the finished Painting.

Please feel free to enquire about commission work, either online, or by phone.
